LOCO110
North British Railway R CLASS 4-4-0T
Built between 1880 and 1884, the elegant “R” Class 4-4-0T’s were Drummond’s last design for the NBR.They were long lived, the last being scrapped by the LNER in 1933. They undertook various duties, hauling suburban passenger, and main-line stopping and branchline trains. They were not significantly altered over their lives but received the usual minor alterations. Originally the Drummond safety valves were on the dome, later replaced by the Holmes type. Coal rails were added, as was a second whistle and smokebox mounted displacement lubricators. The boiler-mounted clack valves were removed when the locos were reboilered between 1908 and 1911.The kit has the body components etched in brass, with the chassis etched in nickel silver. Cast and turned brass and cast whitemetal fittings are supplied.

LOCO111
North British Railway R CLASS 0-6-0T
Drummond’s first design for the NBR in 1875 was the small 0-6-0T “R” Class. A total of 25 were built, and all but one lasted into the LNER period although they had all been scrapped by 1926. Like the 4-4-0Ts they were designed for suburban and branchline passenger work and were equipped with Westinghouse brakes after 1881. The later 4-4-0Ts were very similar and the 0-6-0Ts received many of the same minor modifications through their lives. The kit has the body components etched in brass, with the chassis etched in nickel silver. Cast and turned brass and cast whitemetal fittings are supplied.
