Midland Railway Carriages.

MRTW
31ft Workmans/third class
The Midland Railway started building these four wheel carriages for workmen’s trains in 1890. At least 63 were built and several survived onto the LMS duplicate list beyond 1933. They were the longest four wheeled carriages ever constructed by the company, and were unusual in that they were probably painted green with black mouldings. The kit is etched in brass and features a compensated underframe and etched roof, together with cast detailing components.

MRBT
26ft brake third
These attractive little four wheel carriages were built from 1878. They would usually have run at either end of rakes of 31’ workmen’s carriages to form sets. In 1902 one was adapted for use as a motor trailer on the Hemel Hempstead branch, by having doors inserted in the partitions. This kit includes options for either arrangement and is etched in brass with a compensated underframe and etched roof, together with cast detailing components.
