| SCT4 | LNWR Type 4 Signal Cabin The type 4 signal box was the standard LNWR design of signal cabin, which were built in large numbers from the mid 1870’s until the introduction of the Type 5 in 1904. The size of the cabin varied according to the number of levers which had to be accommodated, from 15 to 180. The prototype chosen (of which 200 were built) had 25 levers and could have either a brick or wood locking frame room or base, although stone was never apparently used. The etched brass kit provides the components to produce the upper part of the cabin, toilet, steps, etc. The locking frame room been left to the modeller to provide as this could be brick or timber, according to location and can be readily made from Wills scenic sheets. Alternatively, the cabin can be platform mounted or modelled as an overhead cabin situated on girders above the rails, as occurred in a number of locations. Wills Slate Roof sheeting is provided and the other architectural details, such as the locking room window frames are included on the etched brass fret. The kit includes a number of etched small details such as the brackets for the external walkway and the cabin equipment “in working order” plates. Cast brass finials are also included. We have also been able to include five sets of LNWR signal arms, spectacles and blinders on the etch. A variety of other sizes of cabin have been produced using this kit as the basis. For an example construction of the larger version used on the Clarendon layout, is featured in John Gowers’ article in Model Railway Journal No. 101, 1998. An example of a small platform mounted cabin made using our kit is also shown in the photos to the right. |

| LNWFH | Fog shelters were provided at signals to provide shelter for the fogman who would put detonators out to protect trains. This kit produces a Fogman’s shelter as shown in “LNWR Portrayed by Jack Nelson. During the summer months when not needed they could be found stored near signal boxes for maintenance. It is likely that the shelters were generally painted black, although typically few photos of such mundane items are hard to find. The photo shows the test etch model. Production etches have the door opening blanked out, as they normally appeared. The kit contains a .012″ brass etch to make one shelter and instructions. |

| LNW4WT | This is a model of one of the common LNWR 4W station trolleys. The kit makes the 6ft standard type as shown on page 70 of LMS Lineside (WSP). Used for larger parcels and packages, mail bags, etc. they lasted into BR days and were a common sight on station platforms. | LNWHC | This kit produces a model of the small hand cart used on LNWR stations as shown in Fig 8 and Plate 2/148 on pages 66 and 67 of LMS Lineside (WSP). They were mainly used for small parcels, books and magazines (WHS had bookshops on larger LNWR stations), blankets and foot wamers for passengers in earlier days, etc. They were painted LNWR carriage lake, with black metalwork. The kit contains .012″ brass etch and brass wire to make one trolley with instructions. |
